What regulations are there?

Travelers should be aware of the following before visiting Luxor:

*A maximum of one litre of alcoholic beverages and 200 cigarettes, 25 cigars, or 200 grammes of tobacco are allowed per traveller.

*Goods not exceeding more than $200 from the duty-free shops within one month of arrival may be exempted from customs along with all personal effects, as long as it is for personal use.

*All weapons, even sports guns, are illegal, as are narcotics, drugs, cotton, and poultry.

*Gold and silver acquired in Egypt can only be exported in tiny quantities if it is apparent that they are for personal use.

*In the case that a traveler is accompanied by their pet, a certified government health certificate is necessary, and it is subject to further scrutiny by local veterinarians.
