Medinet Habou - Pylon Gateway

View of the second pylon of the temple complex of Rameses III at Medinet Habu from the first court. The second court, littered with broken columns lying horizontally, is visible through its gateway and, in the background, is the entrance to the hypostyle hall. The exterior of the pylon is almost entirely covered in hieroglyphs, including a large-scale representation of the king on the left-hand side. Two local men, one accompanied by a donkey, are by the gateway. The complex, built over structures dating from the Middle Kingdom, dates from the New Kingdom to the Late period (c.1550-332 BC) and consists mostly of the mortuary temple of Rameses III (1184-1153 BC).
